Security

When monitoring valuable assets, on-field devices might have to face potential harmful actions, such as rogue applications generating GPRS traffic or eavesdropping on GPRS communication. Other threats on might also have to be taken into account, such as being lured by hackers on the status of your devices, devices being blinded by jamming of the GSM network without being able to detect it, or devices being unreachable on field due to GSM service failure.

In order to tackle this potential threats, Wavecom proposes the Open AT® Security Plug-In.
Key benefits
  • Ensure that no spy ware application can be installed
  • Ensure that only approved entities can access the memory
  • Authenticate and get authenticated before any transaction is initiated over-the-air or locally
  • Encrypt data locally and over-the-air
  • Set up jamming sensitive behaviors
  • Implement redundant communication capabilities
Key features
  • Jamming Detection
  • Open AT® Safe Mode
  • SSL 3.0 / TLS 1.0 Security Tunnel
  • Secured Internet Protocols (HTTPS / FTPS)
  • Crypto Library
  • Open SIM Access
To secure the communication between your back end and the GSM-enabled device, the Open AT® Security Plug-In represents an alternative to an SSL connection to a dedicated APN of your carrier. The advantages are many: You remain in total control of the data encryption algorithms used. Server and device are both authenticated, and no-one can access your data. If your device is roaming, you will appreciate that the Open AT® Security Plug-In is independent of carrier security policies. And last but not least: as the Plug-In is based on standard APNs, there are no monthly fees.
