Wavecom Unveils the Open AT® Software Suite v2.0


v2.0 is the latest Open AT® Software Suite composed of the following elements:
  • An Integrated Development Environment: the IDE v1.0 Built on Eclipse
  • a multitasked pre-emptive event based real time Operating System: OS V5.0
  • A GSM Release 99 compatible firmware providing all GSM standard services and a set of M2M dedicated features accessible through the OS: FW v7.0
  • An extensive set of supported plug ins such as Internet Protocols, C-GPS, ...
  • Full support of Wavecom’s Intelligent Device Services (IDS)
With increasing numbers of developers realising the benefits of the Open AT® Software Suite, especially its ability to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Wavecom has designed the v2.0 release to satisfy M2M players’ requests for:
  • seamless portability of their Open AT® application on top of different Wireless CPU®s to tune their products to their market demands,
  • a state of the art Operating System to embed their own application which transparently provides what any RTOS does while natively taking into account the GSM related services
  • built in application firmware and data upgrade over the air technologies that are efficient, cost effective and taking into account all the specificities of the GSM/GPRS/EDGE bearers.
This is the reason why the Open AT® Software Suite 2.0 architecture is based on a Board Support Package (BSP) allowing you to execute your application transparently on any Wavecom Wireless CPU®, providing extremely significant cost reduction on porting applications from one Wireless CPU® to another whether it be a Plug & Play, Quik or Wireless Microprocessor® device.

Secondly, Wavecom introduces the first multitasked event-based pre-emptive Real Time Operating System supporting the GSM bearer natively. This RTOS allows direct access to hardware resources, guaranteed response time to interruption whatever the GSM state of the Wireless CPU®, and full access to the audio path for complex audio processing. The monitoring of the application multiple threads is made through a programmable application-dedicated hardware watchdog dynamically tuneable depending on the complexity of the processing to be performed while debug is done through JTAG and traces allowing live and post-mortem application debugging. Finally, to answer the request for native upgrade over the air technologies, the firmware has been upgraded to support the uniquely secure Intelligent Device Service (IDS) offering, providing customers with access to the world’s most powerful web based service platform, unique to Wavecom.
