Open AT® Software Suite: Cellular software for M2M
The Open AT® Software Suite is a cellular wireless software platform, designed and optimized for M2M (machine-to-machine) communication. It enables to use Wireless CPU® either as a modem or as a processor running standard ANSI C software applications:
- Processor: the Wireless CPU® is the single processor and is hosting your standard ANSI C application as well as providing wireless connectivity
- Intelligent Modem: a main processor is controlling the Wireless CPU® which provides the wireless connectivity service through AT command interface but also some additional customized services through a supplementary software application
- Modem: a main processor is controlling the Wireless CPU® which provides the wireless connectivity service through AT command interface
The Open AT® Software Suite is owned, developed and maintained by Sierra Wireless, allowing us to respond to your evolving needs faster than may companies that rely on third-party software. |

The Open AT® Software Suite includes Wavecom software running on Wireless CPU®, Wavecom driver running on potential main processor and required PC tools and drivers:
- M2M Studio*: this is the Integrated Development Environment built on Eclipse™ to develop, compile, download, test and debug your Open AT® application binary. The Open AT® application is built with different libraries (Open AT® OS and Open AT® plug-in libraries) and runs on a Wireless CPU®
- Open AT® OS*: Library which provides a rich C based API set for using the pre-emptive multitasked event-based real-time operating system
- Open AT® Plug-Ins*: Extensive set of additional libraries which offer supplementary services over the core Open AT® OS, for example: Internet plug-in, C-GPS plug-in...
- Open AT® Firmware*: Wavecom software which manages wireless communication (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA) and an AT commands interface in Wireless CPU®
- Expresso*: this is a simple and intuitive Windows® tool which enables ultra-fast configuration of modems as well as easy access to basic modem features
- PC drivers for Windows® XP/Vista*: two PC drivers are available to ease the communication between a Windows® application and a Wireless CPU®:
- USB driver which manages Wireless CPU® as a modem under Windows®
- CMUX driver which creates new Windows® COM for each DLC flow opened in the CMUX protocol
- Embedded drivers for Windows® Mobile 5.x/6.x and Windows® CE 6.0: two Windows® embedded driver are available to ease the communication between a main processor based on Windows® CE 5.0/6.0 or Windows® Mobile 5.x/6.x and a Wireless CPU®:
- RIL/MUX driver which provides the Windows® low layer adaptation for Wireless CPU® including Radio Link Interface (RIL) specified by Microsoft® and the CMUX protocol specified by 3GPP 27.010
- USB driver which manages Wireless CPU® as a modem under Windows®
